J.C. Anderson has completed an office and broadcast studio build-out for Good Karma Sports and ESPN Chicago at the iconic Chicago Board of Trade Building in downtown Chicago. Completed on an accelerated 15-week construction schedule, the new headquarters brings the organizations’ offices and broadcast studios together on a single floor for the first time.

The relocation represents an investment in Good Karma Sports and ESPN Chicago’s teammates, operations, and future growth, while providing teams with an updated workplace in one of Chicago’s most recognizable buildings. Bringing the offices and studios together also creates greater opportunities for collaboration between teams and a more connected teammate experience. J.C. Anderson completed the full interior build-out, which includes glass-front offices, open workspaces, conference rooms, a breakroom, and multiple broadcast studios. The project required close coordination with Good Karma Sports and ESPN Chicago, as well as their sound engineers, to create a modern production environment capable of supporting new broadcast technology and equipment.

A key focus of the project was the acoustic performance of the broadcast studios. J.C. Anderson incorporated enhanced acoustic treatments and infrastructure throughout the space to support the specialized requirements of the production environment. Additional sound-control measures were also incorporated during construction to address the evolving needs of the broadcast team. The accelerated schedule presented an additional challenge, requiring the project team to maintain momentum while accommodating complex studio requirements and late-stage requests. Through proactive communication and problem-solving, J.C. Anderson completed the project in time for the client's planned equipment installation and transition.

“This project brought together the unique demands of a modern corporate workplace and a highly specialized broadcast environment,” said Brian Vogt, Project Executive at J.C. Anderson. “The 15-week schedule required close collaboration and flexibility from everyone involved. Our team was able to respond to evolving requirements while keeping the project moving and delivering a space ready for the client’s next chapter.”

Today, Good Karma Sports and ESPN Chicago operate from a modern headquarters that brings their teams together, strengthens collaboration, and provides an environment designed to support continued growth and innovation.

The construction team for J.C. Anderson was led by Project Executive Brian Vogt, Project Manager Matt Schumacher and Superintendent Jose Verduzco. Architectural Services were led by Geniant.
