J.C. Anderson is pleased to announce that the firm has completed a 20,000 square foot spec suite build-out for Vornado at 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza (Merchandise Mart) in Chicago.

J.C. Anderson was hired to complete a build-out to the property’s spec suites on the 20th floor. Construction included the addition of ceiling clouds, a divisible conference room wall, Arktura acoustic ceilings and luxury vinyl tile.

J.C. Anderson’s senior staff has completed multiple projects at the Merchandise Mart over the past 20 years including renovations to the 14th floor corridors, multiple showrooms, the 4th floor bathrooms and a 50,300 square foot build-out for Yelp, Inc. in 2015. J.C. Anderson also completed a phased, multi-million dollar renovation to the Merchandise Mart’s common areas in 2015, which included reconfiguring the layout of the existing food court to provide more seating, an abundance of natural light and new finishes. The most extensive renovations to The Mart included the installation of a grand staircase in the main lobby and creating a 2nd floor bar and restaurant area served by the grand stair.

“We are thrilled to have been given the opportunity by Vornado to complete another build-out within The Mart,” said J.C. Anderson Project Executive John Angelovich. “Our team has vast experience completing a wide range of office renovations within the building, so it was fantastic to be able to complete yet one more.”

“Landlords and property managers are currently bullish on spec suites, lobbies and amenities. With many corporate lease transactions and office decisions on hold, buildings are adding value and move-in ready space for an anticipated return-to-work,” said J.C. Anderson President Mike Yazbec.

The construction team for J.C. Anderson was led by Angelovich, Project Manager Kayla McKinney and Superintendent Glenn Panfil. EWP Architects provided the architectural services.
