For over 40 years Chicago’s iconic Willis Tower has served as a symbol of innovation and pride. 2017 kicked off a complete overhaul of the 1,451-foot-tall skyscraper thanks to a $500 million investment, with the goal of positioning it as both a must-visit destination and the ideal place to work.

THE
WORK
AMENITIES
In a building of this caliber, amenities need to make an impression. This project included replacing an escalator with a connecting stair, custom designed with wood from Europe. The high-end tenant lounge and coffee bar’s finishes included wood, terrazzo, ceramic flooring, millwork ceilings, and decorative lighting, and we installed a large conference center with movable partitions and a fitness center, complete with sound-acoustic flooring.
THE
RESULT
This project required close collaboration with architects in Chicago and Miami in order to successfully realize their vision. We also worked directly with tenants and building security to minimize disruption and set up direct elevators. Our forward-thinking team ensured all finishes were cohesive and elevation heights were consistent, and our heavy involvement in budgeting kept costs down without sacrificing design. We ultimately handed off community spaces that have since become popular gathering spaces for the building’s tenants.
