West Monroe, a national management and technology consulting firm, wanted to carve out several continuous floors in an esteemed downtown location in order to better serve their growing staff. Despite various COVID-19-related challenges, this 5.5-floor, 179,000 sq. ft. buildout was completed on time and now serves as the company’s headquarters, where they are an anchor tenant.

THE
WORK
MULTI-LEVEL OFFICE AND TRANSFER STAIR
Our team started construction on the 15th floor and worked down, building out 5.5 floors total. The 15th floor includes an IT bar and a large training room with custom millwork and a Skyfold, a fully automatic dividing wall that makes the space flexible. The 14th floor houses all executive offices, a large break room complete with kegerators, and reception—all with high-end finishes and mid-century modern fixtures. We also built a new staircase with a black finish and wood tread to connect high-traffic floors and improve flow. Additional floors feature specialty ceilings, top-of-the-line AV equipment, and custom, and Chicago-themed graphic wall coverings.
THE
RESULT
The scope of this project—and the advent of COVID—necessitated clear, frequent communication. We worked closely with the architects, engineers, subs, and the client to stagger start times to keep everyone safe while ensuring all requirements were met. We also worked closely with West Monroe’s internal IT department to make certain the tools that facilitate much of their business were fully functional throughout construction. We completed this buildout on time and on budget, giving West Monroe a modern, employee-driven space that is both flexible and inspiring.
