J.C. Anderson is pleased to announce that the firm has completed a 25,000 square foot build-out for Blommer Chocolate Company at The Mart, 222 Merchandise Plaza in Chicago.

Founded in 1939, Blommer Chocolate Company is the largest cocoa processor and ingredient chocolate supplier in North America, with core competencies in cocoa bean processing, chocolate manufacturing, commodity risk management, and product and process R&D.

Blommer relocated to The Mart and now occupies 25,000 square feet on the 6th floor. J.C. Anderson completed the space in two phases adding private offices, open office workstations, collaboration areas, conference rooms and a café. The space features a specialty ceiling baffle system, sliding fabric panels for privacy, custom millwork throughout as well as custom graphic films. One of the biggest challenges of this project was working within a 100-year-old building and encountering unforeseen conditions. J.C. Anderson was able to successfully assess conditions during layout and adjust material dimensions prior to production.

“The goals and objectives for the Blommer project were clear from the very beginning setting the project up for success,” said John Angelovich, Vice President for J.C. Anderson. “Fitzgerald and Blommer did a great job communicating their visions, expectations, and overall goals of the space. This ultimately set the project up for success.”

The construction team for J.C. Anderson was led by Vice President John Angelovich, Project Manager Kayla McKinney and Superintendent Jose Verduzco. FitzGerald Architecture and Planning provided the architectural services.
