mHUB is a new hub for upstart manufacturers born out of World Business Chicago and funded by private corporations and industries. Catalyze Chicago worked closely with mHub to develop the upstart concept and create the new space which accommodates everything an upstart maker needs to create and develop a prototype.

Client: mHUB

Location: 965 W. Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL

Area: 63,000 sq. ft.

Construction Schedule: 8 weeks

THE

WORK

UPSTART CONCEPT SPACE

The new space features a mixture of open workspace, private co-working areas, and private offices, and an event room. It also features 12,000 square feet of machine shops and prototyping labs, including separate wood, plastics and metal shops, a welding/grinding room, a CNC workshop, an electronics lab, laser lab, 3D printing lab and a wet lab.

THE

RESULT

Construction of this specialty scope required close communication with the project’s various teams. Despite long lead time for specialty materials and scheduling challenges, the hub opened on time, allowing upstarters to get back to creating. The project won the Special Achievement Award at the 2017 Greater Chicago Food Depository Commercial Real Estate Awards.
