ELMHURST, IL – J.C. Anderson, Inc. is pleased to announce that Sara Schumacher has joined the firm as project manager. Ms. Schumacher will work from the firm’s Elmhurst headquarters as well as the downtown Chicago office location which opened in November 2011.
The Schumacher family has been instrumental in the success of J.C. Anderson, Inc. since the 1940’s when Matthew Schumacher joined the firm as a skilled plasterer. In 1976, Matthew’s son, Joseph Schumacher, acquired the company which has since transferred leadership to his two sons, Jim and Tom Schumacher. As the first female in the family to join the trade, Ms. Schumacher will apply her eight years of experience in construction and design to her new role on the project management team.
As a project manager, Ms. Schumacher will be responsible coordinating and supervising jobs, permitting, scope and scheduling for the firm’s projects. She will also manage the construction process and daily activities for her assigned projects as well as serve as the interface between the subcontractors, owners, municipalities and regulatory agencies.
“Sara began her career in construction as a laborer for the firm in 2002, and has since gained valuable experience as an interior designer with Gensler,” said Jim Schumacher, Chairman and Co-owner of J.C. Anderson, Inc. “Like the rest of the family, she’s beginning at the ground level, honing her skills and gaining valuable experience. As a business owner I’m confident that she’ll be a valuable asset to our clients and as a father, I’m proud that she is carrying on the family tradition.”
Ms. Schumacher was previously employed by Gensler, where she served for seven years as an interior designer in the firm’s New York and Chicago offices. While at Gensler, Ms. Schumacher completed well over a million square feet of commercial interior projects. She has worked with such notable clients as UBS, BNY Mellon, Legg Mason, Metlife and GSK.
Prior to her experience with Gensler, Ms. Schumacher was employed as a designer by Hydzik Schade Assoc. Ltd. She is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design. Ms. Schumacher is certified by and a member of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). A recent resident of New York City, Ms. Schumacher was a volunteer for NY Cares and a founder and Board member for The Bowery Mission Young Philanthropists group which assists the poor and homeless in New York by providing them with food, housing and guidance services. Ms. Schumacher is now a resident of Chicago.
